About 2 years ago I scored just over 1000 sq ft of 6" rock maple that I will be laying down through our whole place in the later spring near the end of mud season. I just finished laying down the subfloor (side note; my local building supplier carries CDX that would EASILY pass for B-C, but anyway) and it is going to stay here for at least three months before the maple goes in. It will have to survive the remainder of winter and mud season. It's a bit of a PITA to sweep and socks keep catching on minute splinters. So, I'd like to coat it with something to make maintenance a bit easier until I can get the finish floor down, but I'm more than a little afraid of interfering with the flooring adhesive (I have to glue AND fasten for reasons.)
Does anyone have any suggestion? I was thinking of just a thinned down single coat of urethane or even a coat of stain would at least make it mildly resistant to water and muck and make cleaning a bit easier.
Any ideas, kids?
